Hey guys! I am so so so sorry! It has been forever! Long story short....7 surgeries later Ryder is doing GREAT! He has been home since the end of September and had a few surgeries here and there in between! But he is still such a trooper and strong as can be! He is holding his head up great, sometimes he looks like a bobblehead (but still adorable!) He is smiling and cooing a ton! We can't get him to quit now! Haha....silence is no more! I love it tho! He is AMAZING! And Zack is an AMAZING daddy too! Keep praying that he will continue to do well!

Coming Home!

We are coming home Thursday!!!! Praise God!

Sunday, July 26, 2009

So Ryder was supposed to come home Tuesday, then he got an infection. Then they said we would be bringing him home Friday and then his breathing wasn't good. Haha. I think he hears them tell us when we can bring him home and then makes his mind up then. They are just too nice to him there I suppose. Lol. We are MORE than ready to get him home but he needs to just recover and get strong. We are going on day 21 and counting. As of now he just needs his lungs to get stronger and to be able to keep his oxygen level up when sleeping and sitting in a car seat. Phew. We are working on it with him :-)

Our Lil Frankenstein

Sweet little man
He thinks all these tubes are supposed to be played with :-)

He got his first haircut!!!

Just snoozing away....

Day before surgery....chunky thighs

Daddy knows how to make me happy

So Ryder's second surgery went very smoothly. I was very relieved when the surgeon came in to 'brag' about how well it went. Ryder had his shunt placed and i KNOW it is going to make him feel so much better over time. RECAP: An incision on his head, on his belly, and on his back.....LOTS OF STITCHES!! Hence, our lil Frankenstein. lol. He is so pitiful right now but once he is older he can really impress the ladies with all of his battle scars :-) The worst part of it all was actually the fact that our little piggy who has gotten used to eating 4 oz. every 3 hours was unable to eat since midnight last night and STILL can't eat until tomorrow. That makes me a little sad. I'm sucha mommy now. He is recovering wonderfully. God has really looked over our little man. What a blessing.

Update on Ryder

The doctors came around and did a full assessment of Ryder yesterday. They have confirmed that he will be needing a shunt placed in his brain. They are anticipating doing the surgery on thursday. I hate Ryder having to go through all of this at just a week old but I know that it will make him feel much better! Just continue praying for the little man that he continues to have a wonderful recovery! God is good and is watching out for him.

Sorry it has been awhile, there has been a lot that has gone on. Ryder had his back closure surgery Tuesday afternoon and everything went smoothly. There wasnt much 'repairing' that needed to be done since his spine was mostly intact. Praise God! He has been doing absolutley wonderful! He eats from a bottle and takes the full amount he is expected to be eating right now! Sucha good boy....He has been having some movement in his legs but even more in his toes and feet. Every inch of his little self is so precious. He has become a favorite among the nurses up in the NICU. They like to remind us that he is SUCH a good baby. He has a very laid back mellow personality, nothing seems to phase him. We are pretty relieved ;-) He has had to have a cathater used every 4 hours to help him empty his bladder, Daddy Zack has been getting awefully good at this. Im just not too stable on my feet to be able to learn yet. The doctors will be doing a full evaluation of him on Monday to determine whether he will need a VP shunt or not. So far they are saying he will probably be needing one but whatever God has planned for little Ryder is perfect. He is perfect.

Butterfly Basket

I am getting so nervous to bring Ryder into this world! 2 DAYS! That came SO quick! I have been sitting at work all day today with butterflies in my stomach. I am scared, nervous, excited, worried....any emotion you could be feeling at the moment I am feeling all of them right now. I cannot WAIT to see his sweet little face and KNOW just KNOW that he is what God created to be such a huge blessing.

I have 50 minutes until I can walk out my job doors and not return for 9 whole weeks! What a thrilling feeling! Don't get me wrong I love the people I work with but 9 weeks to spend getting to know my precious son is AMAZING!

We all must just get through this holiday weekend and wake up monday morning and deliver a beautiful baby boy for the world to enjoy.

Be watching for the pictures.

Love you all!

COUNTDOWN: 6 Days!!!!

So the time is nearing when our little one will be here. I am getting very excited and cannot wait to see our little man! I am also feeling a little bit frightened. I know God is going to take care of us and get us through all of this. After all, He is the one who created Ryder to begin with.

It is amazing to me how much I already love Ryder. I would do anything for him. It is wonderful to see how many other people are already in love with him as well. So many cannot wait to see and meet him....that makes me happy ;-) He is definately going to be spoiled with love.

I just want to now take the time to express how thankful I am to those who have such an impact in my life. God has blessed me beyond belief with you all:

Ladies at work: You guys are wonderful! You have put up with my CRAZY schedule and stubborn child from the beginning. You care about him just as much as I do. Just the fact that I can genuinly say that you all care is HUGE. You all know how to make me laugh on a daily basis and have helped me get through some rollercoaster days that I thought would never be over. I couldn't ask to be working with a better bunch of women right now. Thanks.

Family: Thank you for reassuring me that no matter what things are going to be just the way that God has always wanted them to be. I know that you will all love Ryder no matter what care he requires or how ornry he may be ;-o We will see! You all are always on the edge of your seats to know the newest update on your future little family member. Thanks also for all your prayers. I have always felt them and have seen God's hand in all of this. You have all been there for me to just cry to and express my fears about Ryder's condition. You all understand how hard it is to just be resting in the 'unknowing phase.' It is terrifying and yet you all make me feel like it is okay to be feeling that. Thanks. I love you all so very much!

Church Family: There are so many Sundays where I am almost brought to tears just being amongst such wonderful people. I could have never expected such an outpour of love and kindness from a group of people. You have all showed me Christ's love in a big way. You have given your time, your tears, your prayers, and your gifts. None of it has been taken for granted. I know once Ryder is FINALLY here he is going to so loved and so cared for that we won't know what to do with it all! Thanks. Thanks for being Christ to us.

Friends: We have so many friends that have helped us out in so many ways. Whether it was coming over to help me organize stuff while im in my 'nesting' phase or just sitting doing nothing with me because you know I am completely without energy, you have all always been there. I know you will continue to always be there through whatever God has placed before us. Let me just tell you that we are more than happy to do the same for you all. I couldn't ask for better friends. Thank you.

Last Perinatology Appointment

Ryder update:

All good news! He has minimal fluid collecting in his brain still, so there is a possibility of him not needing a shunt placement when he is born. It all still depends on when they do his back closure surgery whether he will need a shunt or not. He has some pretty long legs and he is 6 lbs!!! I am so excited!!! He is looking very very good. Thanks to all who have continued praying for our little man.

Countdown: 9 days!!!!!!!!!!
